2 sticks of butter, 1 ½ cups of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 2 eggs.

Going to the store, I look up and down the aisles for the right butter, the right chocolate chips and the right butterscotch chips. I get an amazing feeling as I check out, knowing I’m about to make some cookies. I hop in the car and tell my mom to hurry up because I’m hungry for these cookies. Once I arrive home, I quickly grab the ingredients and run inside and start my creation.

1 cup of whole-wheat flour, 1 and a half cups of white flour, 2 tablespoons of ground flax, and 1 teaspoon of baking soda.

I mix the ingredients and start rolling them into balls. Once I start rolling the balls, I get into the zone. The texture of the ball looks soft but has the bumps of the chips as soon as you touch it. I roll the dough into the size of golf balls and place the balls on the pan. One by one they begin to line up and look neat. Even when I try to make them the same size every time, they vary in shape. And who can’t help themselves to their own little cookie-dough ball? Let’s just say I have had more than one ball of chocolate and butterscotch heaven before the cookies made it to the oven.

1 teaspoon of salt, 1 cup of Nestle Chocolate chips, and 1 cup of Nestle Butterscotch chips.

After the neat balls of cookie dough are ready to go on the pan, place them in the oven. When I put the pan in the oven I try to be very careful not to burn myself.

Using a wooden spoon mix butter and sugar together in a bowl.

The hardest part of making the cookies is waiting for them to come out of the oven. First it’s just thinking about how good they’re going to taste, but then comes the smell. The smell just tears you apart as it wafts up into your nose. The fragrance causes your olfactory nerves to go crazy as the microscopic bits of cookie go into your nose.

Using a measuring cup add the vanilla, the eggs, the whole wheat flour, the white flour and the flax, mix together.

As soon as the timer goes off, I quickly grab the mitts, stick my hands in the oven and grab the pan. I set the pan on top of the oven and let the cookies cool for about a minute, so they are hot but not too hot. The best part is taking a bite of your delicious creation, hot out of the oven. The soft butterscotch chips and chocolate chips mix together to make the perfect combo of saltiness and sweetness.

Using measuring spoons add baking soda and salt, then mix well. Finally, add chocolate and butterscotch chips, and bake at 375ºF for 8 to 10 minutes.
